In the Dominican Republic, abortion is illegal under all circumstances, with sentences of up to 20 years of imprisonment. Despite the international debate, the "tres causales" (incest/rape, danger to the mother's life, non-viable fetus) are still not recognized. Abortion remains clandestine, influenced by misogynistic Christianity and a deeply rooted patriarchy. Many conversations with Dominican activists have revealed that abortion is a common practice despite the ban.

'Doble Moral' aims to give voice to Dominican women through their stories of clandestine abortions, and empowering, supportive photographic portraits. It presents 30 testimonies and as many portraits and self-portraits — sometimes anonymous to protect the participants' identities. Using mirrors or a remote trigger, women of all ages and social classes, who were contacted through local associations or word of mouth, feel and appear strong. They are invited to take the photo whenever they wish. The artist occasionally includes herself in the portraits as a gesture of solidarity, ensuring that the relationship between model and photographer is horizontal.
