Brigitte Lustenberger's photographs are anchored in contemporary artistic creation and at the same time relate to painting, film or television. The depth of her photographs invites the viewer to reflect on art and life. 'These photographs are composed like paintings and possess their expressiveness. The flowers and the three-quarter view of the models, whose gaze fixes the viewer, are reminiscent of paintings by Rembrandt or Caravaggio. Yet not only their composition but also the lighting are influenced by Baroque paintings: as there, the subjects stand out from the black ground thanks to the artful use of colour and the chiaroscuro effects that shape the faces and make them emerge from the dark matter.'
