Christophe Guye Galerie is proud to return to London for the fifth consecutive year taking part as exhibitor at Photo London 2019. The booth presents a selection of works by four icons of contemporary fashion photography, whose very distinctive styles have been praised both in the fashion industry and in the world of fine arts: Miles Aldridge, Nick Knight, Erik Madigan Heck and Emma Summerton.

A vivid dream-like world, lying between cinema, photography and art, where the images tell a much wider story than the frames that surround them. This is a first impression of renowned British photographer Miles Aldridge’s screenprints. As art critic Michael Bracewell comments: ‘In his work, the tension of film noir conflates with Pop and post-Pop vibrancy; what could be tableaux of science fictional erotica mingle with a hyper-stylized account of domestic British vernacular; the visual language of a mid-twentieth century centerfold pin-up articulates icily de-personalized desire.’

Erik Madigan Heck is one of the youngest and most promising American fashion photographers on the contemporary art scene. His visual language is astonishing in every respect. In his relatively young career, he has developed a very personal view of fashion. 'When I started exploring different brands and their designers - from mainstream to obscure - I began to see fashion as an art form with its own language, aesthetics and creative possibilities,' he writes in his publication 'Old Future'.

Working on a range of often controversial issues during his career, British artist Nick Knight continuously challenges conventional ideals of beauty, which has led him to become one of the world’s most influential and visionary photographers. His work pushes the boundaries of what ‘beautiful’ means and what therefore the production of ‘beautiful images’ requires. At the same time, he has proven to be an artist who is highly sensitive to the world changing around him, and his engagement with global developments is mirrored in the fluidity and dynamicity of his work. Even in his return to glamour, Nick Knight’s photographs are raw and fierce, and yet angelic.

Renowned Australian photographer Emma Summerton has established herself as one of the most talented photographers to emerge in the mid 2000's. Her in-depth technical knowledge coupled with her eye for detail and love for fashion have made her images not only unique but very distinctive, setting her apart from other photographers working in the industry today. Her works have been shown at ArtisTree in Hong Kong as part of the exhibition 'Beyond Fashion' curated by Nathalie Herschdorfer and will be on view together with Peter Lindbergh and Nick Knight, among others, at the National Museum of Scotland in the exhibition 'Body Beautiful' from 23 May 2019.
